Vone Sananikhom, 64, died after being struck by an impaired driver as she walked home from a friend’s house along South 7th Street on Saturday night, Feb. 22, Philadelphia Police told 6ABC.

The 59-year-old driver first crashed into a parked SUV, then reversed at high speed, hitting Sananikhom on the sidewalk, police told the outlet. She was rushed to the hospital but did not survive her injuries.

As her loved ones grieve, they remember Sananikhom as a woman who gave endlessly to others and touched countless lives with her kindness.

“Everyone knows her for being just so generous and doing whatever for everybody. She always puts everyone first before her,” Shella Sitthirath, a family friend, told 6ABC.

Now, the community is coming together to support Sananikhom’s family through their devastating loss.

A GoFundMe campaign organized by Kathleen Joynt has been set up to help cover funeral expenses and assist the family.

“One of our closest friends and her family tragically lost their beloved wife and mother, Vone, this past weekend,” Joynt wrote. “We ask for your assistance and support as we help Shella and her family get through this difficult time.”

The campaign had raised nearly $7,000 as of Thursday, Feb. 27. Those who wish to donate can do so via GoFundMe.

Funeral services for Sanankihom are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Huff and Lekjer Funeral Home in Lansdale
